happy (belated) 4th everyone! we hope all of our american friends are enjoying independence weekend, wherever in the world you are :)
our 4th was a work day over here in korea (boo), but we did end off the night with a couple of wonderful friends and a (practically private) fireworks show at the air force base. in our rush to not miss the show, we managed to find a little secluded field just on the other side where they were going off. it was us and two other cars there watching those sparkles of joy burst open.

i'd say it was better than expected. and to top it off, we had some amazing steaming hot bowls of curry and crispy naan. in my excitement about the food, i forgot to take any pics.
my husband and i shared a bowl of chicken makhani (better known as butter chicken to most westerners :), which took me back to my very first taste of indian food about a decade and a half ago (or maybe two?). one of my mother's friends took me to a little india near where we lived and introduced me to flavors that i would soon fall in love with. i remember we ate at a tiny little dive of a place, but the food was so. so. so. good.
anyway, this recipe looks pretty delish + authentic (she talks about how substituting for the shocking amounts of cream just doesn't cook out to an authentic butter curry), if you're hankering to give it a go at home. if anyone tries it, let me know. :)
so i was sorting through some pics + vids from this year and found so many video clips that i decided to make a little movie. the clips are in chronological order and go through our 4th of july fireworks spectacular.
hope you enjoy!

my favorites are the striped indigo dress and warby parker jasper shades :)
i ended up wearing a black maternity skirt + white tank with my red saltwater sandals and a pair of vintage american flag earrings that a friend gave me in singapore. what did you wear this 4th?
enjoy the rest of your relaxing weekend!
xo,
